Samsung Galaxy S24+ Review – Why It is Best New Phone For Most People

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is shaping up to be quite a decent Android flagship, especially at its $999 price point. It offers all flagship amenities, including a stunning display, solid cameras, a smooth 120Hz experience, and flagship chips from Qualcomm and Samsung with long update support. The excellent battery life only adds to its credibility. Despite some hardware stagnancy, the improved AI skills and overall refinements make it a meaningful upgrade over the Galaxy S23+.

In this blog post, we will examine the Samsung Galaxy S24+’s stunning display, versatile quad-camera system, flagship-level performance powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3/Exynos 2400, and battery life that surpasses even the Galaxy S24 Ultra. We will also explore Samsung’s new suite of AI-powered features and how they enhance the user experience.

Premium Design of the Samsung Galaxy S24+

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (2)

Looks and Build

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ has a classic curved design made of durable Armor Aluminum. Measuring 158.5×75.9×7.7mm and weighing 196g, it has a premium in-hand feel. Available in eye-catching colours like Cobalt Violet, the matte finish looks stunning and resists fingerprints well. Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23+, it now has slightly flatter edges for an improved grip.

Dynamic Amoled Display

The star of the show is undoubtedly the massive 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. For the first time, a Galaxy S Plus phone boasts a vivid QHD+ resolution, which makes images and text appear sharper than on prior Full HD+ screens. Narrower bezels around the edges maximize the impressive screen real estate for a truly immersive viewing experience.

Buttons and Ports

All ports and keys are positioned conventionally along the positioning. This includes the responsive side-mounted fingerprint sensor and dual front-facing speakers. An IP68 rating further solidifies its durability against sweat or light splashes. Users can comfortably access all keys with either hand for day-to-day tasks.

Stunning Colours

Available in stunning hues like Cobalt Violet, Marble Gray, and Amber Yellow, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ caters to individual tastes. Bold exclusives like Sapphire Blue await buyers through Samsung’s online store. Its matte-finished back prevents smudges while retaining an elegant look.

Software and AI Features of Samsung S24+

One UI and Android Version

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ runs One UI 6.1 based on Android 14 out of the box. Samsung’s latest skin offers a refined experience with smoother animations and improved customization options. More importantly, the phone will receive major OS upgrades and security patches for a record-breaking seven years, ensuring it stays current until 2031.

Galaxy AI Features

Samsung loaded the S24+ with smart new AI modes under the Galaxy AI branding. Live Translate powers real-time call translations between two parties. Note Assist streamlines long notes using AI. Google’s intuitive Circle to Search lets you search from any screen by scribbling.

Additional apps gain AI smarts, too. The updated Gallery offers AI-backed editing like object removals. Chat Assist enhances text styles and tones. Transcription Assist summarizes voice memos.

Display and Media of the Samsung Galaxy S24+

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (3)

Display Quality

The 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED screen is simply outstanding. With a resolution of 3088×1440 pixels, everything is rendered with crystalline sharpness and detail. Peak brightness reaches an impressive 2,600 nits for incredible visibility, even in direct sunlight.

Wide Color Gamut

Coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space results in films and photos with vibrant hues. Compatibility with HDR10+ further enhances the experience. The Vision Booster feature optimizes the contrast on the go.

Audio Quality

Despite relying on a single speaker unit, the Galaxy S24+ pumps out rich and loud stereo sound. AI scene optimization and Dolby Atmos surround sound enhance the auditory experience. Haptics also provide strong vibration feedback.

Media Formats

Common codecs like HEVC, H.264 and VP9 are smoothly supported. Audio can be played in versatile formats such as MP3, FLAC, WAV and more. This flexibility permits the enjoyment of multimedia from various sources.

The dual stereo speakers ensure an immersive auditory experience. With AI optimization and Dolby Atmos, the Galaxy S24+ creates an all-around media powerhouse.

Performance and Benchmark Testing

Performance Benchmark Scores

In benchmarks like Geekbench, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performs slightly better in single- and multi-core performance than the Exynos 2400. However, the difference is negligible in real-world usage.

Gaming Performance

Thanks to ray tracing GPU support, the visuals are stunning on max settings. Games run smoothly with nary a stutter, and AI optimization and a 120Hz display enhance immersion.

Thermal Optimization

A larger vapour chamber keeps excess heat at bay. Long sessions stayed comfortably cool without throttling. Only light warmth occurred after intensive tasks.

Storage and RAM

The 12GB fast RAM and 256GB-512GB storage combinations pair well. UFS 4.0 ensures lightning-quick storage access, and multitasking remains a breeze.

Connectivity

The well-equipped connectivity suite covers all bases. Speedy 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC are all present. There is no compromise.

Cameras of Samsung Galaxy S24+

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (4)

Rear Camera Array

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ retains the same triple rear camera setup as its predecessors – a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom.

Camera Sample Photos

Daylight photos taken with the main 50MP camera look nothing short of excellent. Images exhibit natural details and accurate colours without being over-processed.

When light declines, the Night mode admirably retains textures and shadows while minimizing noise. The telephoto lens also captures sharp 3X optical zoom shots.

Advanced AI Features

New AI tricks like Generative Edits allow seamless subject and scene modifications. Edit Suggestions provide automatic photo tweaks. These advanced tools enhance post-processing creativity.

Selfies and Portrait Shots

The 12MP front camera captures sharp, good-looking self-portraits, and backgrounds blur nicely in Portrait mode shots. Video call quality is also top-notch.

8K Video Recording

In addition to 8K clips at 30fps, 4K/60fps and various slow-mo options are available. Electronic image stabilization keeps the footage smooth.

Battery Life of the Samsung Galaxy S24+

Battery Capacity and Charging Speeds

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ packs a slightly larger 4,900mAh battery compared to its predecessor. It supports 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging, though no charger is included in the box.

Battery Life Test Results

In web browsing battery test, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ lasted an impressive 20 hours and 41 minutes on a single charge, handily beating the Galaxy S24 Ultra by over half an hour.

It also outlasts the Ultra in video playback, managing 8 hours and 20 minutes of playback versus 8 hours and 18 minutes on the larger phone. For intensive 3D gaming, the S24+ survives 6 hours and 40 minutes compared to 6 hours and 28 minutes on the larger phone.

Real-World Battery Life

In my experience, with moderate daily usage, including browsing, photos, social media, and light gaming, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ easily lasts a full day and into the next with at least 30% left before needing a top-up.

Power Saving Modes

When you need that little extra juice, Adaptive and Performance modes are on hand to optimize performance versus longevity as required.

Charging Speeds

Using the included 45W adapter, the Galaxy S24+ goes 0-50% in 30 minutes and hits a 100% charge in just over an hour. For wireless charging, it reaches 31% in a half hour.

Alternatives that You Can Consider

As excellent as the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is at its $999 price point, other worthy options at this price are worth a look. Here are some of the most exciting rivals:

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

For those who want the S-Pen functionality or upgraded camera credentials, Samsung’s S24 Ultra is the obvious choice at $1299. It offers an additional 5x optical zoom, a 10MP telephoto lens, and other premium features. It’s more expensive, though.

Apple iPhone 15 Plus

At the same $999 launch price as the Galaxy S24+, the iPhone 15 Plus is a strong alternative if you prefer iOS. It has long software support from Apple, Face ID, and competitive specs but limited storage options.

Google Pixel 8 Pro

Priced equally at $999, the Pixel 8 Pro offers a vibrant 90Hz screen and photography prowess. Its clean software experience is a draw, though battery life could be better. Monthly updates are reliable.

OnePlus 10T

At just $100 less, this model emphasizes blazing performance and 80W charging. Its 120Hz OLED display and clean OxygenOS are also tempting. However, the cameras are mediocre compared to.

Asus ROG Phone 7

This phone is a niche choice for serious mobile gamers only. It offers an incredible 165Hz display and oodles of optimized gaming power. However, its cameras and bland design are less appealing.

Thus, the excellent value the Samsung Galaxy S24+ would be a wise choice for most users. But those wanting superior zoom photography or budget savings may consider the Ultra or OnePlus 10T, while iOS fans have the iPhone 15 Plus option. Ultimately, it depends on specific needs and software preferences.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ offers an incredibly polished and well-rounded experience. With its brilliant and colourful QHD+ AMOLED display, flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3/Exynos 2400 performance, and class-leading battery endurance, it’s easy to see why this device provides such phenomenal value.

Backed by cutting-edge photography tools and useful AI optimization, the Galaxy S24+ stands out among rivals. While not perfect, its extras like super-smooth gaming and speedy wireless charging further sweeten the deal. At $999, it’s an excellent investment for those seeking an affordably priced everyday Android flagship. The Samsung Galaxy S24+ proves you don’t need to spend Ultra money to get a genuinely premium experience.

Samsung S23 Ultra Review: Everything You Need to Know Before Buying

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the latest high-end Android smartphone from industry leader Samsung. As the newest member of the popular Galaxy S series, the S23 Ultra represents the pinnacle of mobile technology, offering a suite of flagship features in a large-screen package.

Following in the footsteps of the popular Galaxy Note series, the S23 Ultra is designed for power users and is the only Galaxy device to include the versatile S Pen stylus.

In this blog post, we will explore the Samsung S23 Ultra in depth to help consumers determine if this premium device is right for them. We will examine the S23 Ultra’s build quality, display, performance capabilities, camera specs, software features, battery life, and more.

Design and Display of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (6)

The Samsung S23 Ultra has premium design and build quality as well as its large, beautiful 6.8-inch screen. Though sizable, the S23 Ultra features premium materials and a screen that delivers an engaging multimedia experience.

Premium Build of the Samsung S23 Ultra

The Samsung S23 Ultra features a construction using strengthened glass and aluminium for durability. At 8.25 ounces, it possesses a solid heft that conveys premium quality. Its IP68 rating guarantees resistance to dust and water submersion. Overall, the S23 Ultra feels very well-made thanks to materials like Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back coupled with Samsung’s Armor Aluminum frame.

Stunning Screen of the Samsung S23 Ultra

Under the glass sits a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with QHD+ 1440p resolution. Its peak brightness of 1750 nits allows comfortable visibility even in direct sunlight. At 501 pixels per inch, the screen exhibits sharp clarity. Perhaps most importantly, its 120Hz adaptive refresh rate provides buttery-smooth visuals. Overall, the S23 Ultra sports one of the finest and largest mobile screens on the market.

Flattened Design Improves Grip

While similar to last year’s S22 Ultra, the Samsung S23 Ultra features slightly flattened side edges and curves for a boxier aesthetic. This small tweak noticeably enhances in-hand grip and comfort compared to its predecessor. The subtle redesign is a welcome evolution that shows Samsung’s attention to ergonomic details.

Versatile Color Options

Consumers can choose from Phantom Black, Green, Lavender or Cream hues for the S23 Ultra. Ordering direct from Samsung unlocks premium Graphite, Red, Lime or Sky Blue variants. Regardless of tone, the sleek matte glass feels appropriately luxurious for a flagship device.

Powerful Performance of the Samsung S23 Ultra

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (7)

The Galaxy S23 Ultra delivers buttery-smooth functionality thanks to Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip. Optimized specifically for Galaxy devices, it provides lightning-fast speed for both routine and intensive tasks.

Premium Processor

Qualcomm’s custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy is purportedly 10% faster than the stock version. During testing, the S23 Ultra felt instantly responsive with no noticeable lag. Complex apps and graphics-intensive games opened in the blink of an eye.

Memory and Storage

Review units offered a generous 12GB of fast LPDDR5x RAM paired with 512GB of speedy UFS 4.0 flash storage. Previous Samsung flagships max out at 8GB, so this additional memory future-proofs the Samsung S23 Ultra for years of heavy usage. Benchmark scores handily outperformed top competitors.

Benchmarks

We ran PCMark Work 3.0, scoring a stout 15,841. On Geekbench, the single-core and multi-core tallies of 1,545 and 5,078, respectively, easily beat rivals. Graphics benchmark Aztec Ruins ran buttery-smooth at 62fps using the GPU. Basemark Web peaked at 925, far higher than other devices. Overall performance is simply phenomenal.

In daily use, the S23 Ultra handles intensive games, multi-tasking, and more without breaking a sweat. Whether browsing multiple tabs or playing graphics-intensive titles, it delivers a buttery-smooth experience.

Versatile Cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (8)

The S23 Ultra offers one of the most powerful mobile camera systems thanks to upgrades like its new 200MP main sensor. This versatile array of shooters allows creative photo opportunities.

Updated Main Sensor

Samsung upgraded the main camera to a 200MP sensor. While 200MP shots are possible, most photos come out at 12.5MP using pixel-binning for better low-light performance. Images show impressive detail, vibrant colours and strong dynamic range.

Additional Lenses

Accompanying the main camera are a 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto, and a special 10MP 10x telephoto, which allows discrete optical zoom from 0.5x to 10x. The latter is unique and enables exceptional close-ups from a distance.

Photography Quality

Overall, photo quality is simply outstanding, on par with or surpassing top rivals. The 200MP sensor means more computational photography tricks are possible. Video quality is also excellent at 4K60 with great stabilization. Portrait mode stands out for natural edge detection and detail retention.

Zoom Capabilities

Where the S23 Ultra shines is its strong zoom capabilities. Photos between 3x to 10x optical are very sharp. AI enhances zoom further to 30x while maintaining good detail. The 100x “Space Zoom” is also dramatically improved versus its predecessors, capturing incredible close-ups.

Software and Features of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The S23 Ultra runs Samsung’s One UI 5 operating system, which is based on Android 13. It offers a robust feature set and great customization options.

Software Updates

One UI 5 provides minor improvements over prior versions. More importantly, Samsung guarantees four OS upgrades and five years of security patches, more than most Android phones.

Premium Software

While Samsung’s software remains cluttered, features like S Pen support and smart appliance integrations give One UI unique value. Bixby can be ignored in favour of Google Assistant.

Versatile S Pen

The embedded S Pen enables note-taking, sketching, and remote controls. Though underutilised, it benefits certain users, such as students and creatives. Gestures let you scribble notes on the locked screen quickly.

Feature-Rich Connectivity

WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and multi-gigabit 5G provide seamless connectivity. Through tools like DeX, you can easily link to the web and share between other Galaxy and SmartThings devices. Nearby Share transfers files wirelessly at LAN speeds.

Fresh Focus Modes

One UI 5 introduces Focus Modes for muting distractions during designated activities. Presets let you auto-apply a profile or build your own, and integrations make the modes more useful.

Long-Lasting Battery of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Despite its huge 6.8-inch screen, the 5,000mAh battery inside the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra provides all-day longevity. With typical use, it easily reaches bedtime with around 30% power left over after closing apps and enabling features like the always-on display.

This is partly thanks to the power efficiencies of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset inside. However, Samsung also claims battery optimizations in Android 13 and tweaks to the Adaptive 120Hz refresh rate help the S23 Ultra eke out greater endurance over last year’s model. In several battery tests, the S23 Ultra managed over 24 hours on a single charge.

Heavier use, such as navigating, taking plenty of photos and videos, or gaming, saw it last a full day. Its stamina holds up even better than many rivals’, though quick top-ups are still necessary for power users. With 45W charging, refills happen reasonably fast when needed.

Price of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is priced premium, reflecting its flagship features and build quality. The base 256GB model retails for $1,199, while additional storage tiers are also available.

At $1,199, the 256GB S23 Ultra is an investment. But additional memory is available if you need it:

  • 512GB: $1,379
  • 1TB: $1,699

Ordering certain exclusive colours like Graphite or Sky Blue from Samsung may extend delivery times slightly.

Carriers and retailers often have deals that can save a couple hundred dollars. Watching for promos and sales helps offset the high MSRP.

Conclusion

The Samsung S23 Ultra delivers the most complete high-end smartphone experience available today. It combines top-notch hardware, from its refined design to a powerful processor and large battery, with best-in-class cameras, including phenomenal zoom performance.

The software package provides an expansive feature set and useful S Pen integration backed by excellent long-term support. Connectivity and ecosystem integration make it a seamless companion for advanced users. While very expensive and large, the S23 Ultra sets an extremely high bar for what’s possible on a mobile device in 2023.

iPhone 15 Plus Review: A Feature-Rich Phone Made More Affordable

iPhone 15 Plus Review Introduction

The iPhone 15 Plus looks to fix the issues of its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Plus, which didn’t quite fit comfortably into Apple’s lineup last year. However, with upgrades like Dynamic Island technology, a new 48MP main camera, and a slightly lower price point in markets like the UK, the iPhone 15 Plus proves to be a more compelling choice for big-screen iPhone fans.

In this blog post, we will provide an in-depth review of the iPhone 15 Plus based on real-world testing over three weeks. We will take a look at the device’s design, display, camera capabilities, performance, battery life, software features, and value.

Design of the iPhone 15 Plus

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (10)

Build Quality of the iPhone 15 Plus

While the iPhone 15 Plus may look similar to its predecessor, a closer examination reveals tweaks to the materials and construction that enhance the user experience. The aluminium frame has softened its signature sharp edges, opting for a slightly rounded affair that feels more comfortable in the hand.

This subtle change is accompanied by a new matte finish on the glass rear that helps reduce unsightly fingerprints. The satin-like feel provides a pleasant sensation, aided by the dual camera bump in the top-left sporting similarly softened corners.

Dual Camera Design

On the rear of the iPhone 15 Plus resides the familiar diagonal dual camera system. However, appearances can be deceiving, as one lens holds a secret upgrade. Around the front, the iPhone 15 Plus boasts Apple’s Dynamic Island, expertly blending the discrete cutouts for the TrueDepth camera and sensors into the software.

The new design language extends to a USB-C port on the bottom edge. This long-awaited change means users can charge iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and more with a single cable. It’s a convenient addition, despite disappointing some with large Lightning accessory libraries.

Display of the iPhone 15 Plus

Large Screen Size and Resolution

The 6.7-inch OLED screen is one of the primary reasons for choosing the iPhone 15 Plus over the standard 6.1-inch model. It delivers a spacious canvas for viewing photos, films and more with its 2796×1290 resolution. While unchanged from last year, the increased pixel count means images are rendered fractionally sharper.

Dynamic Island Feature

Debuting on the 14 Pro and now available on the 15 Plus, Dynamic Island replaces the recognizable notch cutout. Rather than a mere void, it integrates notifications, music controls and more directly into the display. Combined with clever animations, it reinvents how people interact with the front sensors seamlessly.

60Hz Refresh Rate

Regrettably, like its predecessor, the 15 Plus is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate. While smoother 120Hz displays are table stakes on rival Android phones, Apple reserves its ProMotion technology for the pricier Pro lines. 60Hz still serves most users well but feels sluggish beside competing flagships.

Cameras of the iPhone 15 Plus

Blogs Archives - GPDS Online Shop (11)

48MP Main Camera

Beneath the familiar dual-camera design lies a significant upgrade in the form of a 48MP main sensor. By combining pixel-binning technology with a higher megapixel count, the iPhone 15 Plus can capture images with improved detail, brighter low-light shots, and enhanced 2x zoomed portraits compared to previous models.

12MP Ultra-Wide Camera

While unchanged from last year, the 12MP ultra-wide lens continues to deliver a wider perspective for capturing expansive landscape photos. With a consistent colour profile and detail compared to the main lens, it remains a versatile secondary shooter.

Low-Light Performance

One area that has seen considerable improvement is low-light photography. With a larger pixel sensor soaking up more light, the iPhone 15 Plus is quicker to lock focus and capture well-exposed shots in dim environments compared to its predecessor. Shots taken by moonlight or in near-darkness exhibit far less noise and greater clarity.

2x Digital Zoom

The 48MP main camera also allows for lossless 2x digital zoom, as pixels are simply cropped from the high-resolution sensor. While not a dedicated telephoto lens, it provides flexibility for composing tighter portraits or grabbing closer detail without degrading image quality.

Performance of the iPhone 15 Plus

A16 Bionic Chipset

Powering the iPhone 15 Plus is the A16 Bionic chip, which first appeared in last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models. While inferior to the A17 inside the ‘Pro’ handsets, real-world performance is still extremely strong. Benchmark scores prove it can outpace top Android phones from 2022, promising future-proof speeds.

Benchmark Scores

Geekbench tests highlight the multi-core prowess of the A16, returning scores higher than last year’s Pros. Graphics benchmarks like GFXbench also show snappy performance on par with leading rivals. More graphically-intensive tasks like gaming are handled with ease.

Everyday Performance

In daily use, the A16 delivers buttery-smooth responsiveness whether flicking between apps or juggling resource-intensive tasks. Heavy multi-tasking doesn’t cause slowdowns. Despite being one generation ‘old’, it has plentiful untapped power providing longevity.

Thermals

Unlike early reports of some 2022 iPhones running hot, prolonged gaming on the 15 Plus induces only mild warmth, not the type of heat that impacts usability. Software updates have resolved any lingering thermal concerns.

So while newer iPhones scoff, for normal users the A16 is still speedy silicon that easily outmatches current Android flagships. Its processing prowess ensures fluid performance for years to come.

Software on the iPhone 15 Plus

iOS 17 Operating System

Straight out of the box, the iPhone 15 Plus runs iOS 17 – the latest version of Apple’s mobile software. This upgrade brings a variety of new features, like improved notifications with Lock Screen widgets, enhanced Message capabilities, and Focus modes to better filter distractions.

Some highlights include Contact Posters that merge duplicate contacts, interactive widgets, and Standby Mode that turns the display into an information hub by displaying weather, calendars and more when connected to a power source.

Standby Mode

Standby mode allows the iPhone 15 Plus’ large 6.7-inch display to double as a smart display when connected to power, either through MagSafe or a Lightning/USB-C cable. With the screen locked, useful info like timers, calendars and media playback can be shown on the Dynamic Island at a glance.

Long Term Updates

Another key strength is long-term support – Apple typically provides around 5 years of updates. This extends the usable lifespan, with new OS versions continually optimizing performance while introducing new capabilities over time. Compared to typical Android updates, it’s an unmatched level of longevity.

Battery Life of the iPhone 15 Plus

4,383mAh Battery

The iPhone 15 Plus improves on its predecessor’s longevity thanks to an increased 4,383mAh battery, up from 4,325mAh in the iPhone 14 Plus. This bigger cell helps provide exemplary endurance.

All-Day Battery Life

Apple claims a battery life of up to 26 hours of video playback, far surpassing rivals. In real-world use testing, the iPhone 15 Plus consistently lasted beyond a full day of regular usage from wake-up to bedtime with lots of juice remaining.

Charging Technology

The 15 Plus supports 20W wired charging but Apple doesn’t include a charger. It also supports the newer 7.5W Qi and 15W MagSafe wireless charging standards. While charging speeds aren’t class-leading, the battery life rarely requires topping up mid-day.

USB-C Port

In a long-awaited move, the iPhone 15 Plus (and the entire 15 range) ditches Lightning for the ubiquitous USB-C port. This brings charging harmony with other Apple products and the industry at large.

7.5W Qi Charging

Qi wireless charging is supported at the standard 7.5W rate. The iPhone 15 Plus can also wirelessly charge other Qi-compatible devices like AirPods at 5W through MagSafe.

Price of the iPhone 15 Plus

Affordable Price Point

The iPhone 15 Plus starts at $899/£899/AU$1,649 for 128GB which remains the same launch price as last year’s iPhone 14 Plus. This makes it highly affordable for a large-screen flagship iPhone.

Discounted Pricing

Higher storage models offer 256GB for $999/£999/AU$1,849 and 512GB for $1,199/£1,199/AU$2,199. Regular deals from carriers can be found to shave up to $150/£150 off these prices too.

Competitiveness in Features

Considering its included feature set like the powerful A16 chip, class-leading battery life and excellent dual camera system, the iPhone 15 Plus price remains competitive against rivals like the $999 Galaxy S23 Plus and $899 Google Pixel 7 Pro. Even at full retail pricing, it doesn’t feel overpriced for what’s on offer.

Conclusion

iPhone 15 Plus stands out as an excellent versatile smartphone with something to offer everyone. With Apple’s entry into big-screen iPhones, it achieves greatness through balance.

Priced accessibly, its expansive OLED is a joy to behold whether enjoying movies, scrolling feeds or gaming. Stellar battery life means constant companionship without the need for obsessive charging rituals.

The compromise is the disappointment of 60Hz scrolling when rivals offer 120Hz for less. Yet for many, that’s a minor quibble against a phone that ticks so many boxes so affordably.

With enhancements across the board, the iPhone 15 Plus cements its role in delivering flagship iPhone experiences accessibly. It’s proof that going big doesn’t have to mean going over budget either. A balanced, brilliant buy.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Review: The Flagship Phone To Lure Android Users To iOS – Forbes

Introduction Apple iPhone 15 Pro Review

I’m almost ashamed to admit that I have never had much experience with Apple products or the iOS ecosystem. Sure, I’ve tapped the occasional Spotify playlist or texted on behalf of a friend while she’s driving, but never have I used an iPhone as my main device for any stretch of time. That all changed last month when I got to spend a few weeks with the iPhone 15 Pro, one of Apple’s newest—and, in my opinion, most intriguing—smartphones. So while most iPhone reviews are written by people who are already iPhone users, here’s a different take: I’m going to evaluate the iPhone 15 Pro as a daily Android user.

I worried it might be difficult to transition from Android to iPhone. While I struggled initially with the differences in the OS, once I grew accustomed to the new system (particularly the lack of a back swipe), I found theiPhone 15 Prohas many great features, from its built-in ray tracing for mobile gaming to multiple lenses for capturing images to a speedy chipset to keep your multitasking running smoothly. If you’re coming from Android, while you should give yourself some time to adjust to the new ecosystem, but the iPhone 15 Pro is a great device to switch to. Apple iPhone 15 Pro Design

Gorgeous And Practical

The iPhone 15 Pro’s design is a significant and welcome change, especially for someone like me who is a long-time Android user. I’m used to the bulk and thickness of Android devices like the Pixel 6 Pro or even the latest Google smartphone I tested, the Pixel 8.

In contrast, the iPhone 15 Pro is small, thin and fits comfortably in your hand. I could feel the difference in just how thin this device is. For context, the Google Pixel 8 is 0.4-inches in depth whereas the 15 Pro knocks that number down to just over 0.3-inches. It’s slightly heavier than the Google Pixel 8, but there’s a tradeoff there in terms of processing and camera power. More on that later.

On the back, you’ll find the usual iPhone camera lineup, including a 48 megapixel lens, a 12 megapixel ultrawide that includes a telephoto with 3X optical zoom. The finish also features a new titanium casing. It’s pretty snazzy—and that sturdy titanium casing is one of my favorite parts about the design. You can opt to put the phone in a case, but I didn’t feel I needed one; odds are that it’s going to require a lot of drops and scrapes before it takes any physical damage. How do I know? I’ve definitely dropped it a few times.

And of course, one of the biggest changes is the new USB-C charge port. All I can say is: Finally. The Thunderbolt port was one of the reasons I always reached for Android. After all, I have so many USB-C charging cables in my house that even the prospect of adopting an Apple-only cable stressed me out. Sure, I could wirelessly charge, but my home setup is designed with cables in mind. It’s really nice to be able to plug the Pro into any of my USB-C cables and get a quick charge when I need one.

Of course, I’m not trying to dismiss the concerns of longtime iPhone users who have a house filled with Lightning cables and accessories. My perspective is that of an Android user who’s switching to the iPhone 15 Pro, so I’m used to USB-C. I can imagine some folks will feel some frustration, but Apple includes a USB-C charging cable in the box, and USB-C is the most common kind of cable around today. It’s the right move.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Display

Looks Great—And Hasn’t Changed

The Apple iPhone 15 Pro features a 120Hz, adaptive refresh rate AMOLED display, similar to most high-end performers on the market. Nothing has changed from the iPhone 14 Pro. It still features a 460ppi with True Tone, Haptic Touch, and Wide Color (P3). Apple has found something that works well for the display, bringing bright and crisp colors to the screen.

Coming from an Android, I was pleasantly surprised how useful I found the Always On Display, making it easy to check the time or check the Dynamic Island display for updates on my Uber rides or any soccer updates. I’ve never used an Always On Display on my Android devices, and being able to glance over and check the time without pressing the power button or quickly glance at notifications while I’m typing this review was really beneficial to me.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Performance

Designed With Mobile Gaming In Mind

Full disclosure here: iOS 17 took some getting used to. When I went to my local cell store to activate the eSIM card, the clerk told me to give it two weeks. Naively, I shrugged him off. As I learned (the hard way), the clerk was right; it took around two weeks to to get used to iOS.

One of the largest changes for me was that Apple doesn’t have a back swipe feature—something I find second nature on my Pixel 6 Pro and have used even on my Samsung Z Flip 5. I really, truly missed my back swipe button on the iPhone. Apple deserves some credit, as there is always a back button on the screen to help me go to the previous screen, and I could also swipe up to return to the main home display. Most of the learning curve I mentioned boiled down to missing my beloved back swipe. However, once I got used to finding the back button on-screen, Icouldnavigate my favorite apps. In future iPhone software updates, I’d love to see this option come to the ecosystem. I personally find it to be crucial when I’m multitasking between different apps.

During my testing, the iPhone 15 Pro’s new A17 Pro chip felt fast when it came to swapping through apps and multitasking. Not once did it stutter—something I appreciated as I was navigating New York City streets and subway stations while listening to music and messaging my friends. Heck, even doing some light mobile gaming on the device felt easy and smooth. While I obviously couldn’t testAssassin’s Creed Mirage, I’ll be curious to see how that performs once it comes to the iPhone 15 Pro.

And, as a mobile gamer, the ray-tracing on this device looked stellar. During some demos, I enjoyed the realistic colors and more detailed graphics on the iPhone. In practice, it’s gorgeous. Mobile gamers who don’t want the bulk of the Pro Max, which jumps from the Pro’s 6.1-inches to 6.7, will enjoy gaming on this device (and, if you haven’t already, I strongly recommend picking up aBackbone controllerfor your gaming, as the USB-C model has been designed with the 15 series in mind).

The iPhone 15 Pro gave me a lot of easy and useful updates, including NameDrop, which made it easy for me to add contacts to my phone when I do my rounds at PR events. I also greatly enjoyed personalizing my contact information and being able to create fun stickers using photos I took. Being able to make silly stickers of my kitten at home isn’t something I’d normally consider a requirement for my mobile device, but the iPhone 15 Pro’s software makes it fun to be on my mobile device. It’s these little features on the iOS software that made my experience on the iPhone downright fun to message my friends and family.

iPhone 15 Pro Camera

Great Low Light Images

The cameras on the Pro wowed me. I’m one of those folks who love to adjust the settings once I’ve snapped the image—altering exposure, temperature and more so I can get that perfect look to share with my family or partner. The 48MP lens with a ƒ/1.78 aperture captures images beautifully of my cats and around New York City. I found it easy to point and snap images, including in low light settings with Night mode.

I’m also notorious for capturing my cats playing so I can share these videos with my family. In capturing video on the 15 Pro, the 4K video felt smooth and automatically adjusted the lighting to compliment low evening light or bright afternoon sun. Apple has shown videos in the past where directors filmed full scenes on these devices. Initially, I was a skeptic; based on my testing, I can now see why and how Apple iPhones could film as well as they did. The camera technology in the Pro I felt was really powerful. Between this and that more ergonomic, smaller design I really enjoyed, I could easily see myself using this as my main device moving forward.

iPhone 15 Pro Battery Life

All-Day Battery Life, Plus Some Extra

Throughout my testing, I admittedly forgot to place the iPhone 15 Pro on its charging stand when I went to bed. When I’d wake up in the morning, I’d panic, thinking I wouldn’t have enough juice to get through the day, especially when heading into the city.

My fears were unwarranted; the 15 Pro’s battery supports up to 23 hours of video playback (20 when streamed). Obviously, I’m not watchingLord of the Ringsmarathons with this device (though tempting), but when tucked into my pocket, I wasn’t worried about my battery life compared to my Android devices while moving around New York City. It’s a win-win when I can head into the city without charging the Proandstill have enough juice to make calls, message friends and more when I arrive at home.

iPhone 15 Pro Verdict

A Great Value Pick

If you’re coming from an Android device like I did, odds are you’re going to be a little jarred entering the world of iOS. It’s okay to feel a little surprised by the new software changes, but the good news is they’re easy to adjust to. It’s worth swapping to the iPhone 15 Pro, as it has features and a solid camera system that make it a great value mobile device. It’s not as pricy as its sibling, the Pro Max, but still offers powerful cameras, an impressive battery life and an easy-to-use ecosystem.

While iPhone fans will be fine springing for this device, it’s also ideal for those that want to dip their toes into the world of iPhone and check out how it compares to Android. Coming from personal experience that for the specs and the price, the iPhone 15 is now one of my picks for value for the price.

My Expertise

I’ve been a consumer tech & electronics writer and editor for over four years, and I’ve covered everything from Apple iPhone launches to full reviews of mobile devices including the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5. As the consumer and electronics editor at Forbes, I’ve covered major phone launches including Apple and Google for the past two years, including at other publications. My reporting on phones includes reviews in Decider, as well as major announcements at Digital Trends and most recently ZDNET.

How I Tested The Apple iPhone 15 Pro

I used the Apple iPhone 15 Pro as my main device for the past two weeks, taking it on around New York City to capture photos, message friends, make calls, check weather, navigate the subway system and much more. I ran multiple apps across the device while capturing video for friends and family. I even pulled up mobile games to test Apple’s built-in ray tracing.

For the camera, I tested it across urban settings, portrait shots, many different cat subjects at home and more. I used it in bright sunlit areas and night shots to see how each turned out. The camera saw action both indoors and outside to see how still life and action shots turned out under various circ*mstances, and the same went for video to share with friends and family. Additionally, I cross-tested it with Google’s camera system to find out how the camera held up against the competition.

In this review, we’ll delve into the history, design, performance, and overall value of the Air Jordan 1 Low.

History

The Air Jordan 1 was the first signature shoe for Michael Jordan, designed by Peter Moore. It broke the mold with its bold colors and innovative design, which quickly made it a cultural phenomenon. The low-cut version emerged as a more casual option, suitable for everyday wear while retaining the essence of the original high-top model.

Design and Aesthetics

  • Upper: The upper is typically crafted from a mix of premium leather and synthetic materials, providing durability and a sleek look.

  • Comfort: A padded collar and cushioned insole ensure comfort, making it suitable for long wear.

Performance

While the Air Jordan 1 Low is primarily a lifestyle sneaker, it does not compromise on performance. Key aspects include:

  • Traction: The rubber outsole features a classic tread pattern, offering reliable traction on various surfaces.
  • Support: The shoe provides decent arch support and a secure fit, thanks to its lace-up closure system.
  • Versatility: Whether you’re hitting the streets or the court, the Jordan 1 Low performs admirably, though it’s best suited for casual use rather than intense athletic activity.

  • Timeless Design: The Air Jordan 1 Low’s design is iconic and recognizable, making it a staple in any sneaker collection.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various occasions, from casual outings to semi-formal events.
  • Comfort: With its cushioned insole and padded collar, the shoe offers great comfort for all-day wear.
  • Durability: High-quality materials ensure the sneaker’s longevity.

  • Breathability: The leather upper may not offer the best ventilation, potentially leading to discomfort in hot weather.
  • Price: Depending on the colorway and edition, the price can be on the higher side.
  • Limited Athletic Use: While it performs well for casual activities, it may not be the best choice for rigorous sports.

Conclusion

The Air Jordan 1 Low is more than just a sneaker; it’s a piece of history and a fashion statement. Its timeless design, comfort, and versatility make it a must-have for any sneaker enthusiast. While it may not be the top choice for athletic performance, it excels in everyday wear and style.
