In series of meetings for #Science_excellency, a specialized meeting was held to discuss the crucial role of #intellectual_property_management as supporting system in facilitating the development of strategic technologies and achieving excellence in this field. The meeting was held in collaboration with the Strategic Technologies Development Center of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, and was hosted by the National Research Institute for Science Policy (NRISP) . Attendees included the heads of both centers, representatives from the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Justice, INIF, IICT, and a group of intellectual property experts. The meeting was held on Wednesday, 01/11/2023, and is a significant component of the scientific excellence conference scheduled for November 20.During the meeting, I as head of Intellectual Property Management Center(IPMC) presented new #approaches and #strategies in the field of intellectual property management and emphasized the importance of #institutionalizing_appropriate_intellectual_property_management. The focus was on the developments in the global intellectual property system and the need to encourage innovation in this field. Intellectual property management is more than a mere registration process, and it involves #various_activities ranging from #identification to #registration, #protection, and #exploitation. The collaborative efforts of diverse actors contribute to the #co-creation of #value based on these assets, turning the #ecosystem into a puzzle where each #actor contributes their piece to achieve the development of strategic technologies.Attendees of the meeting presented their views on several areas, including intellectual property protection policies, programs for developing knowledge-based human resources, incentive systems based on intellectual property protection, and evaluation systems for driving competition in the elite system in strategic technologies. Prof. MAMIDALA JAGADESH KUMAR, UGC Chairman writes in an editorial of IETE Technical Review: Indian knowledge systems (IKS) encompass a wealth of knowledge, practices, and innovations amassed over ages in India, covering various disciplines, including mathematics, astronomy, medicine, philosophy, and ecology. These knowledge systems have often been neglected in the Indian education system, even though their potential contribution to advancing contemporary science is important. By applying scientific methodologies to study IKS and its associated practices, we can unlock their underlying principles, demonstrate their efficacy, and investigate their potential applications in addressing present-day challenges. It's essential to recognize that by integrating IKS into education, we can ensure that the richness and diversity of India's knowledge traditions are preserved and appreciated for generations to come.
